BRUSH #2 'CAFS' - 2011 Ford F-550, placed in service April of 2011 - Type 6 Engine

5 man crew, 160 GPM water pump, 60 CFM air compressor, 1.5 GPM foam pump, 300 gallon water tank, 10 gallon class A foam cell, 3.5 gallon drip-torch fuel tank, front mounted electronic remote monitor, booster reel with 100' of 1" hose and a pre-connect 100' 1 1/2" attack line.  All LED warning lights front and rear.  Unit has in cab-controls that allow remote start of the pump unit, remote throttle control, remote pump pressure gauge, remote pump engine warning lights and remote water tank and foam cell level gauges.  Unit carries a minimum of 300' of 1 1/2" hose, 300' of 1" hose, 300' of 3/4" hose and 24' of 1 1/2" hard suction hose with foot valve strainer.  Also carried are progressive lay wild-land hose packs, wild-land fire hand tools, and miscellaneous appliances and nozzles.

Nearly all of the work required to place this unit in service was done by members of the department.  We started with a bare chassis and our members installed all of the electronics and warning equipment, applied lettering and striping and mounted and plumbed the remote monitor.  The aluminum flat-bed, toolboxes and tool trays were built by members of the department as well.  Once the CAFS module and water tank arrived our members mounted that equipment, plumbed it and did all of the electrical work.  This work was all done during winter months with many very late night hours.  The end result was that of having a very capable apparatus in service at a cost that was significantly reduced as compared to out sourcing all of that work.  The department is very lucky to have members willing to donate significant time who also have exceptional talent and skills in the areas needed to accomplish a project such as this.
