Portable Fire Extinguisher Training
The Platte Volunteer Fire Department received an Assistance to Firefighters Fire Prevention & Safety Grant that enabled the purchase of equipment to aid in hands on portable fire extinguisher training. If you are interested in having the department conduct a class for your business or organization, please contact us at plattevfd@plattevfd.com. The training involves a short classroom session that provides information on fire safety, different classes of fire, proper selection of extinguisher type and size and instruction on proper techniques for use. The classroom session is followed by a 'hands-on' evolution; each student is given ample opportunity to use a portable extinguisher to suppress live fire using the Bullex Intelligent Training System.
The Bullex Intelligent Training System is available for use by other departments, or we can provide the training for other departments and organizations in other areas, contact us for more information plattevfd@plattevfd.com.
- 1. Install Smoke Detectors outside every sleeping area in your home AND on every level (floor) of the home!
- 2. Keep Smoke Detectors in working order - REPLACE Batteries twice per year (when changing clocks for daylight savings)
- 3. Test detectors and alarms monthly
- 4. Replace any smoke detector or alarm that is more than 10 years old
